IBT LU 760 Plan Summary for Election of Delegates and Alternate Delegates to the IBT Convention

The Election Supervisor has approved the IBT LU 760’s plan for conducting nominations and elections. The important details of the plan are summarized in the documents which you may download below. This summary must remain posted until 30 days after the date of posting of the names of the elected delegates and alternates, whether chosen by white ballot or as a result of a contested election.

Nomination Notice For Delegates and Alternate Delegates

IBT LU 760 is entitled to elect 6 delegates and has chosen to elect 2 alternate delegate(s) to the June 2016 IBT International Convention. The expenses of the delegate(s) 6 and alternate delegate(s) 2 will be paid by the IBT LU 760.

2015-2016 Local Union Election Plan

The Rules for the 2015-2016 IBT International Union Delegate and Officer Election (‘Rules’) require every local union to submit a Local Union Plan for the election of delegates and alternates to the IBT International Convention.

Lincoln Ave., Yakima, Washington.

Los nombramientos se tienen que hacer oralmente desde el piso en esta reunión por un miembro que esté en buen estado no siendo el candidato y secundados por un miembro en buen estado no siendo el candidato. Los candidatos deben aceptar los nombramientos en persona en ese tiempo. Si no están lo pueden hacer por escrito y pueden aceptar el nombramiento de un sólo puesto. Para ser elegible para hacer nombramientos y participar en esta reunión el miembro necesita tener sus cuotas pagadas hasta el mes de agosto de 2013. Se les requiere a los candidatos que comprueben esto antes de la reunión, además de su propia elegibilidad y la elegibilidad de los candidatos que están haciendo los nombramientos y para el que secunda.

eng-notice-thbThis is your official notice that nomination of candidates for the offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and three Trustees for a term of three (3) years will be held at a special membership meeting of the above-named Union at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Local 760’s meeting hall, 1211 W. Lincoln Avenue, Yakima, Washington.

Nominations must be made orally from the floor at the meeting by a member in good standing other than the nominee and seconded by a member in good standing other than the nominee. Candidates must accept nominations at the time made either in person or, if absent, in writing and may accept nomination for only one office. To be eligible to nominate and otherwise participate in the nomination meeting the member must have his or her dues paid through August 2013. Prospective nominees are asked to verify, in advance of the nominations meeting, their own eligibility and the eligibility of their nominators and seconders.

The election shall be by mail referendum ballot. Ballots must be mailed in time to reach a designated post office address not later than 9:00 a.m. on October 7, 2013. The Local Union intends to mail the balloting materials to each member on or before September 13, 2013. Any member not receiving a ballot should apply to the Local Union office to secure a duplicate ballot. To be eligible to vote in the election the member must have his dues paid up through September 2013.

Hoffa To Members: A New Day For Our Great Union

Today, the United States of America represented by the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York entered into an agreement with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters whereby in consideration of its terms and conditions the United States of America upon order from the court will dismiss its action against the International Brotherhood of Teamsters sounding in provisions of the Racketeer Influence and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, 18 U.S.C. Section 1964 and will thereby extinguish the consent order of March 14, 1989.

The following is the official statement from General President Jim Hoffa to the 1.4 million members of the union regarding the filing of an application by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York to approve an agreement to end the consent decree.

“Today, the Teamsters Union and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York filed an application with Chief Judge Loretta Preska requesting that she approve an agreement to end decades of government oversight over the Teamsters Union. We anticipate that she will approve the agreement.

“This is a historic day for our Teamsters. After decades of hard work and millions of dollars spent, we can finally say that corrupt elements have been driven from the Teamsters and that the government oversight can come to an end.

“In 1989, the Teamsters Union settled a court case brought by the U.S. government by agreeing to a consent decree. The purpose of the consent decree was to remove corrupt influences from the Teamsters by establishing direct elections of International officers and establishing an independent disciplinary process for rooting out corrupt elements in our Union.
